Not bad

It's a good game overall. The first attempt to play this, I also sucked and thought it was too hard. There's a bit of a learning curve with this game because the gameplay is totally unique. You have to learn to click the slingshot instead of dragging and pulling, because that just will never get you through the game. That, and the discovery of the beauty of using the space bar to pause to power up cats. With those two elements discovered, I beat the whole game the next time around.

The art is great, and I love the different cat enemies and boss. The whole game system was great with the upgrades, turrets, traps, and help from a clown, lol. Humor added a bit of character to the game as well. The beginning tutorial is priceless, and helpful.

The music was rather soothing and appropriate, and I liked the boss music as well. All the sound effects were appropriate and didn't get annoying even after playing for a while. You added some medals for the game which is good also. It gives the game replay value, and a reason to learn how to play.

Overall a great game with tons of detail and character. It's obvious you put a lot of work into this, and it's good to see author's polishing their content rather than submitting 'unfinished' or 'demo' flashes. It's not often author's go quite this far with a simple game =) Which mostly made it worth playing. Keep up the good work.

M4?

Isn't that an M16? Decent demo you have here. The weapon drawing looks great and the reload animation is pretty much spot on. The game felt good to me. When I aimed at something and shot - I hit it. Controls felt good to me. I think its a good demo and I'd like to see the finished product. Keep up the good work.

Hmm... Maybe I should draw the gun a little clearer

Awesome

That might just be one of the most awesome flash movies I've ever seen. I was totally like...wtf is this shit. I'm walking around a maze full of chests that only contain terrible things about your life. Then the animation. Honestly, I totally did not expect that. I didn't really expect it to be good either. The drawings were great and the animation was good as well. The voice acting was pretty good too.

Really, I'm giving you a 10 for the element of surprise. I totally thought this was going to be some lame RPG game right off the bat walking around opening chests, and then instead it's just a quick funny animation. So a 10 for creativity, in other words, and well executed. Keep up the good work.

Well, I see what you were going for with this, and I think you put it together pretty well. Although I can't get a gold medal, it's a decent game. There are a few aspects I wish were different, but I suppose your reply would be that it's supposed to be challenging. The graphics look good, and the game engine seems to replicate real life physics pretty well. Maybe a little too well ;)

The background music was appropriate and not annoying, and the sound effects were all good and didn't seem out of place. You included a mute button, reset button, return to menu button, as well as some interesting statistics about your gameplay.

I don't suppose you can really ask for much more in a stacking game. It's not overly addicting and entertaining, but I still sat here for quite a while trying to get a gold medal, and I swear it's next to impossible, lol. Good work overall. The only thing I can see you would be missing is maybe some Newgrounds medals and a high score board...of course, you would have to implement a sort of scoring system, but I think with those two additions the game would really feel 100% complete to me.

Nonetheless, great game, keep up the good work.

SeeD - fantastic review. Very thorough, well thought out and you gave us some things to think about. It definitely is a game of patience and careful strategy, so I understand the challenge in getting that gold medal :) The designer's son was able to get as high as 70 meters, and he's 12 years old. My older coordination just can't keep up :)

Thanks for playing and for your great response!

Decent

Well, it's a decent game, but it has some obvious flaws. It's fun to play for a few runs, but the controls are a tad unresponsive. Not sure if you intended that, but it feels kinda awkward. The mouse just doesn't seem to move near as fast as I think it should. Seems like a delayed 'gotta plan ahead' kinda movement, and since I've always been a procrastinator I didn't like them :3

The concept is good, collect the items falling to drug the mouse, get him to explode, avoid hearts. The music seems appropriate, and the drawing of the mouse getting more drugged up and eventually the exploding animation was a nice addition I think. The screen flashing didn't bother me much, and I think it was nice that you added that feature.

I suppose in the future if you improved on your drawings just a bit, and your game had some better controls, this would be much better. Not a bad game though, keep up the good work.

Last time I played this my spacebar was broken so I avoided reviewing or rating unfairly until I got a new keyboard, lol. The game is pretty great. I got farther this time than I did last time, being able to reload manually. The upgrades system is great, and the enemies are pretty cool. I made the mistake this time of only upgrading my turrent nonstop, and not the base...well, that didn't go so well :/ lol

The art isn't anything special, but the game's coding seems just about perfect. The game doesn't feel awkward or anything and pretty much functions as it should. I'd say for future works you could improve on your drawings a lot. Other than that, the sounds were all good, and the menu seems okay. I'm glad you added a scoreboard as well, that's always a nice touch in any game that keeps track. Overall a good game. Keep up the good work.

Haha thanks for the long review man,
I was planning on making a second, and starting the art from scratch.
Glad you liked it though :)

Just so you know (incase you didn't) - upgrading the base gives you more money :D!

Wow

This far, far exceeded what I expected in a tower defense game. Where to begin? The menus and submenus are all beautifully done. They look really tasteful, and are functional and appropriate. The levels map was a great idea as well. I didn't realize the game had a save feature either, which is awesome. The first map I played was pretty cool. Everything was easy to understand right away, and really makes me want to keep playing. The graphics are all really good looking and the animation seems flawless.

The sounds are all appropriate and the music isn't annoying either. What more can I say? The game just looks beautiful, and functions just as well. 10/10. Keep up the good work.

Nice

Not a bad beta engine at all. The music is great, the character looks cool, and most of the levels are decent. The main menu and submenus were all done really well and are easy to navigate and understand.

Things to improve for the final release:
1. Movement of character. The movement through the levels isn't fluid. I repeatedly get stuck on small curves that should flow. Instead I find myself having to jump just for the slightest bump in the map. Doesn't look good, doesn't feel right.

2. Checkpoints. I got super far in one of the Free-for-all levels, and then had to start WAY back at the beginning. Just a suggestion, but it sure would make the game a lot more fun if there was at least some kind of checkpoint system.

3. Medals. What's more fun than playing a Newgrounds game and earning some medal points? Add some game medals for the final release. There's nothing like winning a medal for beating a level or game.

Other than that a great beta. Fun to play so far. Keep up the good work and I'm sure this will be a great release!

In all honesty, it's a space shooter disguised as facebook. No matter how you look at it. It's a great concept though, and you executed it well. I first played this when it was fresh in the portal and I honestly didn't see any of the upgrades on the right hand side, so I thought it sucked. It's far better with the upgrades =)

The gameplay is really simple, but it's overall pretty fun. I got up to attack speed 3, and attack rate 6, before I got raped by 22 liked statuses and there really wasn't anything I could do about it. Still a fun game though.

The music and sound effects seemed pretty appropriate, no complaints there. The design all worked pretty flawlessly as well. Good work, keep it up.

Well, it is indeed a bastard

I'll give you a 6, because that was my highest score in this damn game. Not sure if I really like the idea of losing control of my mouse really...I mean maybe, but not like this. When you're getting a high score in a game, it's good to know that you're skilled. When you play a game like this, it's just pure luck. The cursor is an asshole and you can't really tell where you are. The best technique I found so far was to just haul ass. When I stopped caring and just flew across the map is when I got up to 6. Slow and steady just doesn't seem to win this race.

The other game mode, hiding the cursor completely, is just next to impossible. I tried for all of about 30 seconds and it's just way too big of a pain in the ass.

My main problem with this game is that it's just way harder than a game this simple needs to be, not to mention not all that rewarding. Maybe if there was a submit score option and a high score table I could see...

I guess there's not really much else to review. Not really graphically pleasing, no music, no sounds...just a simple bastard game plain and simple.

Kwing responds:

I really like your criticisms here. The game could definitely use a difficulty curve. Perhaps making the screen a bit larger so you had a wider space to move would have been a better idea, although I don't think the invisible cursor mode is that bad if you get into the swing of it. But a highscore board is definitely in order. My cousin got up to 9 on this, and I think 5 or 6 is the highest I've gotten, if you would like a frame of reference.

I develop stuff.
