Nice

Love the IDM elements in this mostly. The percussion throughout the entire piece was nice to listen to. The piano melody was so-so. The song still seems a bit on the quiet side to me though.

I appreciate that the song is nice and long as well. The intro seemed to do justice for the melodies to come quite nicely. I didn't find the synth melodies to be overly catchy, but they did blend in well with the song. I think you could have a done a bit more mixing to make it sound more...blended but other than that it's not a bad tune.

Keep up the good work.

I have to agree with you on the melody. I can't actually remember it unless I'm listening to the song, and that's probably because I made it such a small part of the song itself.

Not bad

It's actually pretty soothing to listen to, and I think the organ melody at the end was my favorite part about it. I think as far as what you were going for you pulled it off extremely well. The nervous parts certainly sounded nervous, and the calm parts were awesome.

The guitar parts weren't to my liking, but the organ solo was excellent. Especially the use of chords you used, loved it. The bass solo was meh, lol. Could have used a bit of work but it didn't sound out of place either.

Overall a decent tune, keep up the good work.

Birdinator99 responds:

Yes, bass soloing is clearly not my forte heh, but I'm glad you liked the organ :D

Rawr freakin' guitar lol.

Thanks for leaving your thoughts!

Not bad

The intro is decent, and sets the tone quite well for what's to come.

The build up to the main melody was done well, and the riffs you used are pretty catchy and show that some actual thought was put into them. While I'm listening to this I can't help but picture a space shooter flash game for some reason.

It's not a bad tune really, I actually kinda like it, the only thing that could really make this appeal more to me would be to extend the mix and maybe switch up the melody a little more dramatically in the extended part. It almost sounds like you didn't plan on stopping the song, you just gave up for some reason.

It doesn't sound like it has a proper ending, and there's no way you did that so it would loop because it doesn't sound like it would at all. So my advice would be to extend the mix a bit.

Overall a good track as it sits though. Keep up the good work.

Yeah, I never really... plan... these things. If I did I might get a better moving track I bet. The real deal is that I had to get back to work on my exams and stuff so that's pretty much what happened, I just stopped. I would like to re do the end bit, it kinda sticks out to me as having too little resolution for the whole minor tone of the piece anyway. I'm going to have to toss that to the wind though and hope it just kinda works out when I can work on it again. Thanks for pointing that out.
I mean, I knew it already, but I didn't think anyone would notice. :) So now I have a reason to go back and work some more.
Thanks for review!

Not bad

It's not really my favorite genre anymore, but I think you did a great job with this. In other words, I totally see what you were going for and I think you executed it rather well.

The song does have rather depressing feel to it, and the lyrics support that. The soft beginning worked pretty well, in my opinion. It set the mood perfectly. When the song picked up later on I didn't like it so much...it almost sounded like it wasn't mixed very well...or I was listening to a low quality song.

It was still okay, but I just don't think it was as good as it could have been. The vocals are good throughout the song though, especially in the beginning.

I agree about the drum criticism for the heavy part 100%. I think that would make it sound much better.

Keep at it.

thanks for the review. yeah its defo the end section that i need to work on, and to be honest ive only done some basic panning and levels, so thats why it seems a bit low quality. hopefully iron these issues when i finish it.

thanks again

Dude wow...

I was playing Minecraft and it really felt like this was the actual music in the game...like it went so perfectly...wow....

This is a beautiful melody. The piano has a great sound to it, and the notes flow really well together.

I also liked the fact that it was so quiet. It was just so peaceful to listen to in the background at low volume. It wasn't blaring obnoxiously at all. What a beautiful piece...the only criticism I have is that it seemed to end rather abruptly. If the song was longer or had a more subtle ending I think it would be a lot better.

Keep up the amazing work.

whitesymphonia responds:

Ah, I've never actually played Minecraft myself, been trying to get around to buying a copy when I have time. Yea, I agree with the ending. It was a bit abrupt, ran out of idea by then. I've been considering redoing this with more than just the piano though, so maybe I'll go back and do some changes.

lol

I like the guy's review below me, "master chief shooting" lol. Like the song has any reference or anything to do with Halo, lol. Not going to lie though, it would be rather appropriate.

The beginning is subtle yet powerful, and does a great job building up to the main melody. The percussion sounds well mixed with the brass. The percussion itself actually is very good.

The ending is melodic and beautiful, albeit a bit premature in my opinion, well done. The only thing that I noticed it that it's a bit short. Other than wishing it was longer, it's a great piece. Keep up the great work.

GronmonSE responds:

Yeah, I've noticed that the main criticism is how short the song is. I should probably expand is someday.

Thanks for the kind words and the review!

Great

A great dnb track! Almost more of a chill dnb track but I love it. I'm glad it's 5 minutes long too. Definitely a great listen. I've had it playing while messing around in Minecraft, and I must admit I like it quite a bit. Downloaded. 5/5 9/10. Keep up the great work.

Well the singing isn't bad really. She seems to hit all the notes pretty well and her voice is pretty good if you ask me. The only thing this is missing is some nice background music as it's rather bland the way it sits. I mean if you really wanted it to sound perfect you could edit this and get rid of the noises when you breathe. (*i move away from the mic to breathe in)

Other than that I really don't have much criticism for it. Singing is good, edit it if you wish, add some sweet music, and this will be very good.

Hey! Thanks for the review. I'll upload another song later with some vocals on top of an instrumental and will submit another RRC request. Thanks again! Let me know if you need me to do anything for points.

Nice

Not a bad tune at all. The intro was done really well in my opinion and the song flowed really good. All of the percussion work was to my liking - quick yet controlled. Not quite IDM style, but borderline at times, lol.

The bass line was great and went with the main synth melody well. I can see a couple points where I'm thinking you want to clean up the mixing, but it doesn't sound to bad so far.

The speed up feel that the melody had a couple times was a great idea, and I think you pulled it off well. The song is pretty long too, and I actually left it on repeat for a while whilst editing some photos and totally forgot I was going to review it ;) It's easy to listen to and doesn't get obnoxious fast at all.

Zerest is a good guy, had a few PM convos with him and I like his tunes quite a bit. His piano melody sounds great ;) It's cool to see you two helping each other with songs too. I think you both have great styles and tons of potential. Keep up the great work.

As far as constructive criticism goes, I got nothin. You guys are so much better at making music than me I'd feel like an ass to even criticize anything xD No but really, it sounds great so far and I'd love to hear the finished and polished product.

Dj-GST responds:

Thanks man.

Glad you like the bassline, it took me forever to make a suitable one.

Yeah, tempo build up is sweet :P

Yeah, he is a good guy. I've known him since Grade 9 lol. Alot of our individually made tracks we send over to each other whilst they're still in the making, so the other can point out the flaws that need to be fixed. Every track I have on here he's listened to before anybody else :P

Sweet man, I'll send it over to you when I'm done, it wont be for awhile though.
