Nostalgia?

Jesus what pokemon game is this from? Am I that old already? Nostalgic would be one of the first games right? Man, lol, maybe I am getting old...

I played the games but I've never heard this before, but it sounds musically correct. The synths have a nice pleasant tone and compliment each other nicely. The song has a nice length to it, and the whole song is very calming to listen to.

I'd give you originality points just on the simple fact that I haven't even seen this done before, so it can't really be that overdone. Anyway, good work with this. Sounds like it would be a great listen in any RPG game. Keep it up.

Radidsh responds:

Last time I checked, there were three other projects related to that original track here on Newgrounds, indeed.

This is from the starting zone of Pokémon Gold/Silver/Crystal (second generation).

Thanks for the nice comment. ^^

Decent

It's a decent cover, although not very long. The first thing I would say is that it should be a bit longer. The beginning was awesome and I loved the sounds I was hearing but it seemed a bit out of place when it just changed suddenly. The synths were pretty cool sounding and the percussion was alright.

This doesn't really sound like anything extraordinary per se, I mean it's not original, it's short, and there really isn't a whole lot going on. I'd still say it's an okay cover, just nothing I'd ever listen to voluntarily. It would probably be a great contender for a flash video though.

Nonetheless, keep up the good work, and enjoy your new keyboard.

Birdinator99 responds:

I shall enjoy :D

This was more or less an experiment I didn't want to spend too much time on. As for being out of place, I guess I could agree a little there. It's always nice to get different opinions so I can improve my work!

Thanks very much for listening!

Decent

Well most of the song is musically okay, but I think we have some serious volume issues with the instruments. The word 'weak' comes to mind. Nothing about this song strikes me at all really. It all blends into a quiet weak sense of urgency. The ending was rather interesting, and I like what you did there with the main melody. It sounded much like the beginning only a bit better even.

The drums throughout the entire piece sound very weak. The synth and bass line in the background do an okay job of carrying the melody pretty well but to me the bass line especially sounds out of place. It's just this really low grungy noise and feels out of place with the main synth melody. While this is going on the drums sound as if they're playing something intense but we can barely hear them. The piano was definitely a nice touch though, and I like the melody that it played quite a bit. The ending is what made the song for me.

i waited until i could redo it to respond, how does the mix sound now, i've updated it and hopefully i've fixed the issues and didnt create new ones lol

wtf

Well I can't say you're being unoriginal, that's for sure, but whatever that loud racket noise is...umm yeah...it's kinda unbearable and not musical in any way shape or form. The beginning was really creepy and kinda cool sounding, but when that racket came in at :17 I was just like...ahh my ears.

The sound clips of voices really add a nice touch though, somehow. The girl moaning or whatever was an interesting add too.

Overall I'd say it's pretty original and interesting, but I'm not sure if it has any practical uses. Maybe in a super messed up flash, but I know for a fact I'd never play this in the car.

ZLEAP responds:

Yeah, it wasn't intended to be the "next big dance track" but you can never forget you heard it. I think it's prety funny that you would use a term like "loud racket noise" and express it through saying "ahh my ears" because that was precisely the point I was getting at with the piece. That's all religious bullshit is to me. Whatever floats their boat and keeps them deluded and happy I guess. Thanks for listening and taking the time to review. Your input is always welcome.

Awesome

Wow what a strange sound. Mega points for originality, this is just weird and awesome. A great song, I'll have to download this one.

I can't even really criticize the different instruments in the song because I can't even identify them, which is just great. The flute(?) sounds great, and the background percussion and beat is just sick.

I think it was all put together very well, and flows amazingly. The flute melody is very pleasing and it all blends together in a nice weird way. It blends together so well that you completely lose sight of the background synths and sick percussion noises and instead you just hear a very complete and full sound, and it's great. Keep up the good work, love this.

Stargenx responds:

Whoa, thanks for the very flattering review. XD
I...I don't know what to say.

Wtf?

This song is definitely weird. The lyrics don't seem to make any sense at all, but it almost makes it easier to listen to. The guitar playing seems at a reasonable volume and fits the lyrics well actually. I actually let this start playing and then started going through e-mails and photoshopping a picture so I have no idea how many times I just listened to this but it was a lot. It's really easy to just let it play in the background because it's just so damn weird and calming. I give you tons of originality points for sure. The vocals are different but easy to listen to and calming.

Other than that I really don't have any other criticism. It's kind of cool and different. Keep up the good work.

Sawdust responds:

Aww thanks man!

Not bad

Right off the bat it sounded great in my opinion. I could tell just from the beginning melody, which was just great when you added the other synth it just blended really well and sounded amazing. For a first complete song this is amazing, nothing less. Overall the song was mildly unsatisfying as it really didn't seem to go as far as I thought it would. I was waiting for the climax and I guess it happened and I missed it, lol. I was just expecting more. The melodies you have though are great, the synths all sound great and the drums match the whole song very well.

The call and echo parts are fantastic that was a great idea. I think this song still has room for improvement, but it's a fantastic start! It just didn't seem to build enough for me, keep going with it! Add some more drums for a real full and complete sound! I want a 5 minute journey! What you have here is just too great sounding to let it go. Keep up the good work.

steven-mcl responds:

Thanks man, I played around with this song and studied different concepts by listening to different genres to get this sound.

Yeah, I know it's lacking, I was just trying to get something established and was quite proud of this so far and couldn't think of what else I could add to it. A lot of Electronica songs seem to have atleast 2 or 3 main melodies that it transists to and I could only come up with 1 so I just submitted it as is.

For my next song I'm going to try and get more diverse. I hope it turns out as good as this one did.

Thanks for your reply. :D Atleast I know whatever I'm doing, I'm doing it right. :P

PS: An extended mix is in the making. ;)

Mostly very good

The scales seemed a tad bit awkward in this song...it's very calming and just seemed a bit uncalled for really. The click sounding bass drum is a bit distracting in the second minute of the song. I'd either tune it down or change the drum completely. Overall a great tune though, very relaxing and the length of the song shows that you put a decent amount of effort into this. Beautiful, and relaxing. Not other criticism really. Keep up the good work, we need more music like this available in the audio portal.

Thanks for your wonderful and straight forward review. My listener's thoughts are very dear to me.

Nice

Very beautiful track here. I don't usually listen to this kind of music voluntarily, but I have to admit it's a great track and avoiding using the word cinematic is nearly impossible. It sounds very cinematic. You weren't kidding either, I turned up my volume and got raped about 55 seconds later in high quality stereo headphones. Stereo headphones...I suppose they're all stereo headphones...anyway...

It's very difficult to give music like this a good review because I don't listen to much of it. If it sounds terrible, I can write about what I didn't like, but this was pretty amazing. I honestly can't pinpoint an awkward moment in the song, and I was continually impressed by how well the instruments seemed to blend together and how well the song flowed. The beginning was subtle and built up nicely, and the ending seemed very good also. I could break down the different instruments you used, but honestly they're all flawless. From the percussion elements to the piano, it sounds lovely. You are obviously very talented in this genre. Keep up the good work.

SolusLunes responds:

Glad you liked it! It's always nice when a song comes together like this one did.

Not bad

Definitely suits the Halloween theme better than some other submissions I've heard, but overall the track sounds very amateur. None of the melodies are overly catchy and the instruments don't seem to blend together very well. The slowdown at the end was a nice touch though. It's cool that you switched it up quite a bit during the track, and it has a decent spooky sound to it especially at the beginning, but it's just not all that moving overall I wouldn't say. It just seems like some of the instruments that come in don't really match the initial spooky theme and seem a bit uncalled for. Keep at it though.

Radidsh responds:

I am grateful for the constructive feedback, thank you. The ending part is my favourite part of this song.

I hope that I will improve more on my next project. =)

I develop stuff.
