Umm

Well I respect the fact that you put countless hours of work into this, but to me it doesn't sound like something I'd ever want to listen to again. I mean, it sounds really repetitive almost like a video game song at times, but you classified this as jazz.

Sorry, but it just doesn't sound very catchy to me at all, and it doesn't really all seem to blend together very well. If this sounds harsh, don't take it that way, it's just my opinion.

Thanks for commenting.

I didn't compose this, this is one of Dave Brubeck's greatest hits, also one of the greatest jazz standards of all times and I've transcribed it note-by-note, as-is(except for the solos and the instruments.)

The repetition is meant to make a build-up in intensity, even thought it may be hard to hear because of the MIDI and whatnot, but I still think you were a little harsh on this.

I classified this jazz, but it's actually a tangent of jazz called third-stream, a mix between classical music and jazz. It's a far complex kind of music, and I can't blame you for not understanding it, but I can't help think you shouldn't stop your judgment on catchiness. I also think people shouldn't criticise what they don't comprehend (that doesn't just apply to you).

At least you had the decence of not zero-bombing, to which I salute you for, as you rarely see that on Newgrounds!

To resume: Thanks for commenting, I'de have thought you would have been a bit more conciderate to the genre you're reviewing as an aspiring RRCer, but I don't really mind, you posted what you thought would be helpful, and not simply by hate.

Cheers

Sorry lol

I feel bad for giving you less than a 10 with such an epic streak of 10's but I don't think it's THAT good. Don't get me wrong, you've got a great singing voice, and the guitar riffs are fantastic. The lyrics are good and don't sound cheesy or anything.

All in all I'd say it's a great song, not something I would personally ever listen to again, but you're a good musician so keep up the good work.

Weird

This is super weird, but in a good way. I'm not even sure I can think of any criticism to give you. I mean, it's certainly not boring, and doesn't seem to be lacking anything really. It's really different and cool sounding.

Around 2:00 you added some new sounds that sounded really good, and the build up and break was awesome. I totally agree with you on the computer voice though, lol. That would sound really cool. Maybe you can just make it say "break" or something simple like that. All in all definitely a cool and interesting song. Downloading this.

mjattie responds:

hahaha thanks xD you know, that's actually a very good Idea.. "Break" I actually might use that one haha.

thank you for the review!

Uhm

Idk what to say about this. Nothing really seems to blend at all. The main beat just sounds terrible...not to mention what exactly does the name of the song even mean? Did you mean to type 'bastard?'

Sorry if this sounds harsh, but all these random noises don't seem to blend at all. That and the main beat sounds just way too low...

Not to mention this is absurdly repetitive...by the end of the song I was just ready for that low sound to stop.

horsebugger responds:

no worries, i welcome the feedback, rather a true bad review than a fake good one.

yeah i did think that its a bit repetitive, when i made it. the name of the was just what i saved it as, and just decided to use it as the name.

Well...

The beginning was boring, but beautifully done. The middle of the song was pretty much my favorite, the piano sounded fantastic. When you first decided to change the nature of the song I think it sounded kinda weird, but you ended up pulling it off how I don't know. It does blend well eventually in a really weird way.

Sounds interesting though, so I'll give you that much.

TheUprising1 responds:

Thanks!
I know what you mean about the beginning, it's actually the part I wasn't sure about, as was the middle part, but apparently everyone seems to like that. xD

Not bad

Very relaxing and very well made. Everything blends really well and the track was enjoyable to listen to. Struck me as a tad boring, but maybe you were going for a super chill song, which is okay too.

I'd say all in all it was a good track. I'll download this for my Chill mix =)

MobiusIII responds:

I appreciate your review! Chill was definitely the name of the game here, it is Ice Cap after all :P. Thanks for giving some feedback, glad you enjoyed it.

Nice

Right off the bat this sounded good, and as it progressed I was impressed with the punchy sound of that synth, it just sounded amazing. I have the track "I remember" on my iTunes and honestly I can't even tell what sample you took from it. The whole track really sounds pretty good and I hope you continue to make music.

I'll have to agree that it was a bit repetitive and boring after 3 minutes of it, but the sounds are all great.

Oh...real music, lol...

Well, it's not really my thing, and it kinda upsets me that you used the genre "heavy metal" because this really is NOT metal to me at all...The guitars weren't distorted enough and there was NO screaming. To me, that's just a rock song. HOWEVER, it's obvious that a lot of effort was put into this, and I totally respect that.

The band seems to blend together really well, and I think you did a fantastic job mixing the instruments. The vocals are okay, and I think the song got much better at about 4:00. The guitar seemed punchy and the vocals were cool, but then after that part it sounded like a punk song all the sudden....

5/10

Sorry for the low rating, but nothing really stands out in this to me. It seems so unoriginal and trendy. It just sounds waaay too generic for my liking. You should add some personality and maybe some fades in here, or just anything really. Maybe that's just me, but it's my opinion...

I don't really think the beginning of this is appropriate for a trance track either. After the radio part, the way you built up was cool - and I did like that part - but after that it was just one loud trendy trance noise with zero character.

Hmm

As I'm sure it takes talent to make these, this just didn't really stick out to me. It's okay, but I'm just not getting into this at all...I'm wearing stereo headphones and most of the song one of the instruments is only on the right channel...which just kinda sounds weird. I mean, I can't honestly sit here and tell you that I get into classical music, because I don't, but I know what sounds good - and this just really isn't something I can ever picture myself listening to again.

Sorry if that sounds harsh, it's just my opinion.

I develop stuff.
