Meh

Well the sounds you used were great, I just don't think they fit well together at all. The intro was fantastic. From the second it started till it faded in I think was pretty good. When the piano came in, it was okay, just sounded a tad out of place. The synth was okay sounding, but I don't think the riff was really my thing. The slides sound good but without the good notes to back them up it didn't really feel uplifting or anything.

The bass line was pretty repetitive, although it did sound good. The drum kick was much the same. When you decided to mix up the main synth and add some skipping and volume changes it sounded alright, but I didn't really like the riff in the first place so it wasn't anything really special to me. The slowdown at the ending seemed way out of place. Like I said before, all the instruments and effects you used in the song are great, but together they just didn't seem to blend or flow at all to me, or at least not in a way that I particularly liked.

Mehis right,this prty shit.

Bleh

Well, it's okay, but I don't really find it very funny. The recording quality wasn't the best at all and I think you could have really done a lot to fix this. Mic placement, recording the lyrics and guitar part separately and running them through a mixer would have helped a lot.

The singing wasn't bad really, and the guitar playing was good too, but number one this isn't appealing to me at all, and number two it wasn't recorded well. The two coupled together just don't really do it for me. Popping noises because the mic is clipping the decibels doesn't work with a song that's supposed to be melodic I don't think.

Ryanson responds:

Thank you.

For the "funny" bit, I think what I meant was "awkward." The repetition of the words in the chorus felt funny to me, i.e. slightly awkward.

Not bad

I can tell you put a lot of effort into this and it really paid off because it sounds decent. The intro was great and the electronic beats seem to mix with the guitar very well. No clue what the lyrics are because you didn't list them but the singing sounds good. The guitar was creative and the changes you made were good.

The drums weren't anything super special, but they fit the tune rather well. Obviously there are a few timing issues you'll have to work out in the final version where things aren't on the beat that they should be. I won't bother listing them as they are obvious and I'm sure you realized them as well.

The solo was okay, but I think throwing an EQ on there would really help a LOT. Throw this track through a mixer and toy around with the levels because this song has tons of potential. Great singing voice by the way. The timing on the vocals was pretty much perfect. A great demo in my opinion. Keep up the good work.

Hmm

Well the beginning wasn't really to my liking. It sounds bouncy and not very musical. The drums you added were great and sounded really glitchy and creative. I enjoyed those a lot. The sounds after that as well as some of the drum patters sounded like they were clipping and distorting...sounds like a quality issue and isn't pleasant to listen to at all. Most of the times the bass drops it sounds like a blown speaker.

Not much really happened until the end. The bass line in the background was great, but that disorganized synth I didn't like one bit. It sounded all over the place and that coupled with the distorted drum noises just wasn't really that pleasant to me.

When the drums weren't distorting they sounded rather good, and the piano piece you had wasn't bad at all. Personally, that synth ruined it for me, more so the fact that it changed and sounded bouncy without notice or reason, and then the distorted drums just sounded bad coupled with it. Hope this helps. Keep at it.

mikkim responds:

So I made the drums clip, and you thought the synth ruined it. I'm abit confused at what you meant by it was jumpy, but thanks for telling me what I did wrong!

Not bad

Your effort is certainly noted, and the fact that this song is so long is nice.

To be honest I liked the intro a lot. I think it was very effective and sounded great. The main synth isn't quite to my liking...it's good...but it's not amazing. Your drum kicks are super meaty! They sound great and really have some depth to them, although I think could probably do with a bit less click.

The drums sounded great and worked perfect when they came in. It was also nice to hear you change up the melody a bit. The bass line came in and sounded very appropriate. I'm not sure that the bass synth is to my liking either. Could use a bit of tweaking IMO. Sounds a bit too plucky to me.

The build in the middle of the song was effective, but when all the instruments hit it seemed devoid of something, but only barely. It's a nice mix, but not extraordinary, and because of that I think you put it to an end really quickly and added some different quieter effects. I'm glad you did too because it sounded good and was much better than just dragging it on.

The end was mostly listen to that over trebled synth that I didn't like too much. It was ALMOST awesome, but I think needs an adjustment in the EQ. Nonetheless, keep up the good work and I hope this helps.

BuggMusic responds:

Thank you for the review! I'm glad you appreciated the meaty kick, which was the result of about an hour of tweaking. I always try to not make my songs drag on too long, but sometimes it feels unfinished or like it's missing something. I hadn't noticed that the synth was too overpowering, so I apologise!

lol

Well the beginning in my opinion was awful. It sounded bland and devoid of anything really musical. Then the guitar and beat came in and I was like, oh, okay we're going to rock now, that's cool. The guitar sounded decent, and the bass was good as well. The ending on this was very good and I especially liked that long high note at the end, it sounded really good. The drums could use some work though as they seemed to come off a bit cheesy, as well as the synchronized crash with the guitar over and over again. It just seemed a bit cliche to me.

It's nothing I'd listen to voluntarily because I don't find the riffs all that catchy personally, but it sounds like a complete piece and your effort has been noted as well. Keep up the good work.

joethesouleater responds:

thanks, i meant for the begining to be crap and i agree that it isnt that catchy, a lot of my other stuff it better than this and the drums sound that way because theyre fake, i dont have the abbility to actually record tings so its all programed, thanks for the review

Nice

First part was rather boring, but I suppose you were setting the mood for things to come. It's not that it sounded bad, just wasn't all that interesting. Although, it did sound a bit western to me.

Second part was much better, right when the synths came in. I can tell you put effort into this part, and the notes seem good and sounds as well. The background pads seem to compliment the beat well, and the drums really fit in nicely. It was pleasant to listen to for a while but not much really happened after that. It seemed stagnant for about the last 30 seconds, and the ending was super lame, haha. I suppose it works though if you just threw it together. Keep up the good work, though.

camoshark responds:

Thanks for the review!

You're right, the intro IS boring, I don't like it myself, but it makes somewhat of an intro!

Cheers,

I like it

I like this a lot actually! I can tell you put some effort into this and I think it really paid off. The lead synth sounds great, and it's a very happy and catchy melody. The bass line wasn't overly creative, but it still blended in with the song rather well. The background pad and piano sounded great. The drums sounded good and the kicks were repetitive yes, but appropriate for the song.

When I hear the main melody I just picture a madness flash for some reason, lol. Either that or a sunny field with bright green grass and everything in life is just great. I feel like skipping or something.

Towards the end of the song the melody seemed a bit off, pretty much starts at 2:00 with the piano notes, but the first half was amazing. If you wanted to do any tweaking I would consider the synth and piano notes in the second half of the song as those notes didn't seem to compliment each other extremely well, in my personal opinion. The highs seemed uncalled for. However, much like the intro, the ending was done very well. Downloading this one. Keep up the good work.

Herdunculus responds:

Wow thanks! To me the piano part sounded slightly off too, but I thought it was just me! Well, I will be sure to try and change it a little. Your mental picture is what I wanted people to see when they listened to this song (the sunny field one lols). Thanks so much for the review!

damn

Just awesome really. Don't really have any criticism for this at all actually. Far better that I could ever do. Keep up the good work.

SessileNomad responds:

thanks

lol

Yep, sounds just like it. I couldn't stand the level either because of the drowning. I think it all dates back to those damn sonic games and that noise when you're drowning...*shivers*. Great work on this, what are the odds I review your other song and you post up a new one tonight? As far as my memory serves me, this sounds exactly like it. Keep it up.

AikaMusic responds:

The odds are very good xP. haha
