Nice

I'm adding you as one of my favorite artists because you've just shown me again and again that you have talent. Once again, no real flaws here besides a lack of professional production. It never ceases to amaze me how well you pull of NOT having a producer and making things sound pretty clean. How? lol...

I can't be bothered to listen to the original for these because I have a LOT of songs to review at the moment, but this as a piece by itself sounds great. Not my favorite track by yours, but nonetheless good. I mean, the fact that you played for damn near a whopping 8 minutes is just crazy. Anything less than a 10 is a joke. The drums are badass in this one for sure.

Much respect \m/ Keep up the good work man.

Pure-Metal-UTA responds:

Seriously thank you for reviewing my songs, more thanks for faving me! =D
Although it's not the best composition, I still treat this as my baby; I could still listen to this song for an entire day even though I've listened to it a million times.

My sound is all in my setup, there are times where it sounds scratchy (in other songs) as I haven't perfected my home producing skills, but it works I guess.

Thanks again for the reviews!

Wow

I'm not sure if it's because I'm listening to these with stereo headphones but this is fucking awesome. You guys are seriously the shit. The melodies and notes you used are so perfect...the only think you're missing is a producer for better recording and mixing, and yet I'm still impressed that you managed to do this good of a job of getting it here without one.

The guitar solos are just amazing. All the notes were just selected perfectly. The drums are fucking badass. The background guitar was also sick. I mean, really guys, all you need is a producer to record this and clean it up with an EQ and whatnot and this is golden. Even the electronic track you added behind the track was just perfect. I mean it sounds just awesome and blends together so well. 5/5 10/10 for effort and music skill alone.

Pure-Metal-UTA responds:

Well thank you very much!
Something to note, I did this all on my own on my computer. Songs like The Guilty, Endless Storm, Death, and the Hollow Men are all the band's, and we're waiting to get funds to use a recording studio to get those top notch. Songs like this one and Memories of the Stars are mine
Perhaps I will re-record this when I get better equipment than I have later down the road, but until then this'll do I guess.
Thanks for the review!

lol

Yeah, your author comments are hilarious. Aside from that, the song is pretty good. A bit trendy for my liking, but I suppose it would work pretty well for flash games. I'm glad you at least switched up the melody and didn't leave us listening to the same stale noise for 3 minutes, lol. The instruments are totally overused and that happy hardcore sound makes me want to tear my eyeballs out, but at the same time the notes you picked were probably the only acceptable notes in existence. Nothing really special about the drums here, they sound pretty standard. I like the fact that you put a break in here from the drums and then had them come back in - always a great effect for any electronic track.

Most of the other effects you used were appropriate and placed well, so I can tell you obviously knew what you were doing when you made this. Keep up the good work, but for the love of god don't use that synth again, lol.

thatbennyguy responds:

Thanks SeeD. Will not use synth again haha. Yes. I am very cliche. Changed this with upcoming tune. Thank u very much :3

It's okay

Well, it's not bad, but nothing really stands out here. The drums sound pretty cool, but the main synth isn't very interesting. The piano in the background doesn't really seem to follow a very melodic beat. Well, to be honest I think that just about covers the entire song too. It's about 2 minutes of the same noises really. I suppose the main problem I see is that the main synth just isn't very interesting sounding at all, it's just a single note every once in a while.

I think if you opened this back up and put some more effort into it, maybe some transitions and beat changes it would be a lot better.

W3R3W00F responds:

Awesome review. :D Thanks for the constructive critisism, all of those are very good points! Unfortunately I'm afraid I won't be able to open it back up because I've only got FL 8 demo which means I can't save projects... ah well. :)

Once again thank you for the review and cc! They'll be good references to (hopefully) avoid future problems. :)

Not bad

Not bad at all, it's a pretty catchy beat. The main melody or synth I don't think is all that special, and a few of your bass lines could use a bit of work. Not all of them, because I really like one of the synths, and the bass line while that's playing flows brilliantly. Your drums I think are your strong point. Very creative, and I love them...no drum criticism from me, they're amazing. Gah there's just so many melodies and synths you probably don't even know which ones I'm talking about :/

Well, it's great that you switched it up so many times. Really makes the song interesting and avoids having it sound repetitive. Overall I think it's a great track, regardless of one riff I didn't like in particular. Keep up the good work.

Box-Killa responds:

:P hehe yeah i dont know if it was the sound of the synth I chose or something because now that i listen to it some of it sounds wierd.

Nice

I love this. Such a chill beat here, and it drags on for a full 5 minutes. What a masterpiece. The beat is just so damn catchy. All the different melodies you added on top of the main one are just amazing. I downloaded this after hearing it the first time, and now that it's played like 3 times, I can tell you this is fucking awesome. I have no criticism for you, just keep making music please :D Keep up the good work!

FlamingFirebolt responds:

Thanks you liked it! I geuss the combination of a hard bass + various soft instruments, including a rhodes with delay lulz, worked out after all. When i started the song i had something like this in mind, altough, i wouldn't think it would turn out to be my best song (Imo) i've made so far.

Anyhoo, There will be vocals on this song actually ^__^. Can't wait

-Firebolt-

Well

The beginning sounds very amateur. It sounds like you strummed the guitar with no notes at all. The chords are alright I suppose, but I think you could have cleaned up the guitar a lot. I mean there's nothing wrong with just using two chords but it just doesn't sound very talented it all. Might want to work on strumming technique and making sure the guitar is totally tuned.

Now, the noises you added in were a very nice touch! I didn't expect those at all. The vocals are fantastic! Probably what stood out most to me in this. The lyrics are just awesome and your vocal talent was nothing short of amazing in the entire piece.

Towards the end you added some different guitar parts which were okay, but then it sounded like you layered a couple of them and it just didn't sound right to me at all, again.

Overall I think if you touch up your guitar skills a bit, record them much clearer and precisely, you'd have yourself a gem. The vocals don't need any work they're amazing. Keep up the good work man, and I'm sorry if I sounded harsh I'm just being totally honest with you so I can help as much as I can.

SoulSecure responds:

The guitar is supposed to sound 'like shit' I suppose and yes it was tuned, on the dot, to standard E.

I wanted a raw sound so I record with PC mics instead of instrument mics. Plus it's cheaper that way.

The opening is just something I did for the hell of it. The solo isn't really meant to sound 'right', the whole idea I usually take to my music is that things can and will sound wrong to other people, but I prefer it. The thing is that I use different recording techniques to add a different flavor to my pieces, which, other people hear and are trained to think it's an unprofessional sound and therefore, is not a 'good' sound. Some people like amps that, to others, sound muddy. Where others hear static I hear music.

lol

I've listened to this play like 10 times now in the background, lol. It's a funny mix, but the song really doesn't go anywhere. The main beat is pretty good, and the drums are appropriate sounding, it just doesn't really seem to go anywhere. If you mixed the beat up a bit with some more big changes and transitions it would be much better. It has a lot of potential, it just needs...more, lol. The quotes were a nice touch though for sure. Good work.

Everlasting-Elements responds:

Thanks for the review. I might make this better, I might not. It was fun to work with, but not fun like I hoped.

Higher quality?

Are you kidding? lol The first thing I thought when this started playing was holy shit the quality on this is amazing. Sounds very crisp and precise. The journey this song takes you on is just ridiculous. From the weird noises at the beginning, to the sick baseline, to the calming part, and back. Wow. I absolutely love the background noises you added to this, so interesting and keep the beat from becoming stale. Also the constant changes in the main melody are great as well.

I must say, I'm going to have to download this. So much variety and epic sounds here. The basslines are epic. I think the popping noise that's only in the left channel might have been overdone a bit, like you could have turned down the volume just a tad, or maybe made it a slightly different sound. Other than that it's a masterpiece. Keep up the good work!

p4c responds:

Awesome! Yeah, the quality differences between V3 and V0 might be a bit meager unless you're really paying close attention, but regardless, I'm glad you liked the track! I try hard to keep everything fresh and varied, so I'm glad I pulled that off for ya :) Thanks!

Sick

LOL wow that was sick. Okay, where to begin, lol. The beat throughout the entire song was sick and matched perfectly, I really don't have much criticism for that. I'm glad you added the lyrics to us to read along. Most of those are hilarious and well thought out. The effects on the vocals are also great and interesting.

I'm giving you a 10, but I think there's a couple things you can do to touch this up. Not sure if you're actually going to, but I'll tell you anyway. The main verse, the huge one, I think could use a little bit of work. I know it would be a total pain in the ass to have to rap the whole thing over again and remix the song to match it, so I'm not expecting you to even bother, but in the future I have a tip. 90% of the main verse was sick, but a couple parts did come off a tad cheesy. Not bad, just a little bit cheesy.

I think if you added some pauses in the vocals and maybe a break in the beat it would be WAY sick. I hope you know what I mean when I say that. Like midway through the main verse just stop with the vocals and let the beat carry out for a couple measures you know? Just to let the last word soak in a bit. I hope that makes sense.

Anway, yeah all the other vocals are sick, and the effects are great. I'm giving you a 10 for humor, effort, and a sick beat. I think I should give you a 9 really because I found a couple things I would change, but based on the pure effort I'll give you a 10 to motivate you to keep going because I can see a lot of potential here. It has a real ICP/gangster feel to it and it just sounds sick. Keep up the good work guys, and hopefully you understand what I was getting at.

Luke responds:

I totally hear you my dude. My man Slaughterizer made the beat and all that... He lives in another province so we had to do it all over the computer, by sending my part to him, his part to me, getting the feel for it etc etc etc. It's tough to do that and not actually have any contact in person.
He did a great job with the beat, I had a beat that my other friend hooked me up with, that I wanted to use.. But he made that one completely from scratch, sent me it and let me listen to it and what not.
Then I recorded my part, without any breaks in between, I told him to put some breathing space in between but it never happened I guess... THEN he recorded his parts, the parts where the vocals got the sort of 'distorted' vocals or something, not sure how to explain them... But the first vocals, and last are Slaughterizer, the long ass verses are all me. I did that all at once too, I know a lot of artists who have to record one part, stop recording, put it on the track, record the next, and repeat basically... I'm not for that though, in a way against it.
I like the way the track turned out and it ended up being better than expected.
It was a hard track to do, but it turned out very well in my opinion.

I'm glad you enjoyed it and thanks for the good review!
