Not bad

I don't see why people are so offended about this really. It's just a flash game of a plane flying avoiding missles. The name just pisses people off. It happened people...deal with it.

The game itself is nothing special really. It's just your basic 'avoid something' flash game, and in this game it happens to be 9/11 themed. The plane feels rather unresponsive, but I suppose that adds to it being realistic. Even looks like a plane the way it moves. That was all done pretty well. The medals are a nice touch as well. Not too hard, only took me a few tries to get used to the plane. Sound is okay. Drawings aren't spectacular by any means and could have been improved a bit, but the animation is decent.

Overall nothing really great, but not bad either. A decent little game that only really gets by mainly because of the theme. If this was a space shooter I doubt anybody would care.

Hey look, a decent review!

I commend you for your English skills and structure while writing, you must be doing good in school.

ANYWAY...

This was a spur-of-the-moment game, we started it on 9/11 and finished it on 9/11... So we had literally no time to fix things.

Damn I think I need a smoke now. The game is fairly easy, well at least getting the medals. I think the hardest mode is the one where it's all warped and shit and has that guys ridiculous face and the score is all wacked. THAT should have been nightmare mode I think...

Other than that the music was good. I mean at least it changed from mode to mode. The animation was all good and the game seems to function normally. Not really much else to say about it, lol.

Kevin responds:

That was my friends face.

M4?

Isn't that an M16? Decent demo you have here. The weapon drawing looks great and the reload animation is pretty much spot on. The game felt good to me. When I aimed at something and shot - I hit it. Controls felt good to me. I think its a good demo and I'd like to see the finished product. Keep up the good work.

Hmm... Maybe I should draw the gun a little clearer

Well, I see what you were going for with this, and I think you put it together pretty well. Although I can't get a gold medal, it's a decent game. There are a few aspects I wish were different, but I suppose your reply would be that it's supposed to be challenging. The graphics look good, and the game engine seems to replicate real life physics pretty well. Maybe a little too well ;)

The background music was appropriate and not annoying, and the sound effects were all good and didn't seem out of place. You included a mute button, reset button, return to menu button, as well as some interesting statistics about your gameplay.

I don't suppose you can really ask for much more in a stacking game. It's not overly addicting and entertaining, but I still sat here for quite a while trying to get a gold medal, and I swear it's next to impossible, lol. Good work overall. The only thing I can see you would be missing is maybe some Newgrounds medals and a high score board...of course, you would have to implement a sort of scoring system, but I think with those two additions the game would really feel 100% complete to me.

Nonetheless, great game, keep up the good work.

SeeD - fantastic review. Very thorough, well thought out and you gave us some things to think about. It definitely is a game of patience and careful strategy, so I understand the challenge in getting that gold medal :) The designer's son was able to get as high as 70 meters, and he's 12 years old. My older coordination just can't keep up :)

Thanks for playing and for your great response!

Last time I played this my spacebar was broken so I avoided reviewing or rating unfairly until I got a new keyboard, lol. The game is pretty great. I got farther this time than I did last time, being able to reload manually. The upgrades system is great, and the enemies are pretty cool. I made the mistake this time of only upgrading my turrent nonstop, and not the base...well, that didn't go so well :/ lol

The art isn't anything special, but the game's coding seems just about perfect. The game doesn't feel awkward or anything and pretty much functions as it should. I'd say for future works you could improve on your drawings a lot. Other than that, the sounds were all good, and the menu seems okay. I'm glad you added a scoreboard as well, that's always a nice touch in any game that keeps track. Overall a good game. Keep up the good work.

3Quarter-Aiming responds:

Haha thanks for the long review man,
I was planning on making a second, and starting the art from scratch.
Glad you liked it though :)

Just so you know (incase you didn't) - upgrading the base gives you more money :D!

In all honesty, it's a space shooter disguised as facebook. No matter how you look at it. It's a great concept though, and you executed it well. I first played this when it was fresh in the portal and I honestly didn't see any of the upgrades on the right hand side, so I thought it sucked. It's far better with the upgrades =)

The gameplay is really simple, but it's overall pretty fun. I got up to attack speed 3, and attack rate 6, before I got raped by 22 liked statuses and there really wasn't anything I could do about it. Still a fun game though.

The music and sound effects seemed pretty appropriate, no complaints there. The design all worked pretty flawlessly as well. Good work, keep it up.

Well, it is indeed a bastard

I'll give you a 6, because that was my highest score in this damn game. Not sure if I really like the idea of losing control of my mouse really...I mean maybe, but not like this. When you're getting a high score in a game, it's good to know that you're skilled. When you play a game like this, it's just pure luck. The cursor is an asshole and you can't really tell where you are. The best technique I found so far was to just haul ass. When I stopped caring and just flew across the map is when I got up to 6. Slow and steady just doesn't seem to win this race.

The other game mode, hiding the cursor completely, is just next to impossible. I tried for all of about 30 seconds and it's just way too big of a pain in the ass.

My main problem with this game is that it's just way harder than a game this simple needs to be, not to mention not all that rewarding. Maybe if there was a submit score option and a high score table I could see...

I guess there's not really much else to review. Not really graphically pleasing, no music, no sounds...just a simple bastard game plain and simple.

Kwing responds:

I really like your criticisms here. The game could definitely use a difficulty curve. Perhaps making the screen a bit larger so you had a wider space to move would have been a better idea, although I don't think the invisible cursor mode is that bad if you get into the swing of it. But a highscore board is definitely in order. My cousin got up to 9 on this, and I think 5 or 6 is the highest I've gotten, if you would like a frame of reference.

Great!

Well, the program really isn't much, but the function is serves is amazing. Just using this for all of about 5 minutes and using the random audio button I've found 3 great tunes. What an idea. Just a totally random submission. Some of these never even received a proper review :( What a shame.

The coding all seems to work as promised, and I'm glad you added a help button with all the information you could possibly need so there isn't any question about it. The 'audio page' function was a fantastic implementation as well.

Not a bad little flash applet overall. I'd love to see you make some future improvements and create a new version down the road, but as it sits, it's a neat gadget that serves a purpose that nothing else on newgrounds really does. Keep up the good work.

MCarsten responds:

Hey there, glad you liked my gadget, to organize all your ideas to the review I will reply them by your texts.

I'm really glad you liked this gadget and also that is the porpuse from the random audio, to give the player a random sound which can be enterteining.

Now, I absolutely know that my help button really is useful. Thanks for like my 'audio page' button, they actually have two motives from appearence, one: give the player the option to visit the page to leave a review or vote to the promised submission. Two: Avoid stupid reviews about using your audio while you don't want, because while submitting your audio track to Newgrounds your song will be free of charge.

Again, thanks for like my work.

See you around.

*Sigh*

Oh cool, another game where you run into a place where it totally isn't self-evident what the hell to do. So I'm sitting the the bottom of the ocean, and I was TOTALLY randomly told to select a battery. The message was so fast and random and I just fell to the bottom. I held space and selected the battery a hundred times. I'm just stuck here. I've pressed every combination of keys I can even think to press. So, I guess I'm giving up because you failed to list what I'm supposed to do. Thanks a lot.

I'm docking you a whole four points just for principle. This isn't the first game I've played like this and I'm sick and tired of authors just assuming that we're supposed to know what the hell to do. Seriously dude, wtf am I supposed to press? Idk, maybe LIST IT ON THE SCREEN? Ever think of that?

Music is great, and the graphics are okay. The whole game up to this point was just kind of me searching around for something, then it turned into me searching for what button to press, and I'm giving up because it's ridiculous. I've pressed all the obvious keys and tried everything, and this is just completely retarded.

Thanks for wasting my time. I have no idea what happens in later levels, and even if you fix the game, I won't be replaying the game just for principle.

Donitz responds:

The controls are explained in the dialogue messages which do not disappear by themselves. But just in case I put them in the description as well. As explained. Use C to use the equipped item.

My review! :(

Well I suppose I can review it again. What happened?

Like I said, the game is awesome, and I'm still playing it. Love the sounds, the concept, the graphics. I'm glad you added some new modes and achievements. Maybe you should have added some NG medals as well while you were at it. That would have gotten it listen on the games with medals page as well as brought more attention to the game. Maybe something to think about.

Oh well, like I said before lol, great game keep up the good work ;)

ThinXIII responds:

Oh sorry about that, I re-submitted the game with the achievements update. So I took the first one out. Anyway Thanks again. :D
